Thirty years ago, members of a religious-cult group led by cult guru Jim Jacobs (Thomas Jane) committed a terrible mass suicide. Sarah Hope (Lily Rabe) was the only one to get away with her life at the time, but not without serious consequences: the five-year-old girl suffered a trauma. After three decades, it is now returning to the scene. She has the journalist Maggie Price (Jessica Alba) and a film team in tow. Together they want to get to the bottom of the terrible tragedy. Past events continue to frighten Sarah to this day. And so it takes a lot of effort to deal with the sect again. She is quite right: the team soon discovers something that is more scary than their worst nightmares.
